On the shore beyond the tropical sea

You will stand to welcome me

On the shore beneath the sky so blue

All my dreams at last will come true

Oh Malaysia, land of glory

Where I found my heart’s true love

Soon we’ll be meeting, dear Malaysia

You will be forevermore

Fashionasia‘s post Mossimo Swim Collection and Sharon‘s hope of being posted to Sabah made me come to a decision that for my next holidays, I should be making my way to the beautiful shores of Sabah, Malaysia.

Selamat Hari Merdeka! 🙂

NB. “Oh Malaysia” is a very old song, loved by many but remembered by few. Click here for the music.

Isn’t it beautiful?

This hibiscus is from my own garden at home. I have eight different colours & breeds of hibiscus. My passion for growing hibiscus started in 2005. They are easy to grow and require very little care. So what are you waiting for?

Grow our National Flower or Bunga Raya today.

What about you, Endroo? Do you have any hibiscus growing in your garden? 😉

Moz tagged me with a Pantun Merdeka Meme but I’m not doing it because my Malay language is a hundred percent worst than Sharifah Amani‘s. Please kindly accept my sincere apologies, Moz.

However, for those of you who would like to have a good read & a good laugh at some of the Pantun/Puisi Merdeka Meme, please don’t hesitate to check out the creativity of some of these famous bloggers such as Nyonyapenang, Wingz, Cocka Doodle, Minishorts, Helen & Ah Pek,

NB. If anyone would like to see the photos of the other hibiscus from my garden, please let me know. I will email them to you.

To know Malaysia, is to love Malaysia
People smiling everywhere
Showing you how much they care

To know Malaysia, is to love Malaysia
It’s true
This land, so beautiful
It will steal your heart away
This land is paradise
And it’s only, only a smile away

To know Malaysia, is to love Malaysia
In this land where dreams come true
Malaysia welcomes you
To know Malaysia, is to love Malaysia
It’s true, it’s true, it’s true….

Remember this song? Click here for the music. Tourism Malaysia used it to promote the very first Visit Malaysia Year.

As I said to Scorkes, there are too many problems in our country lately. Hey, do not get me wrong! I am not condemning anyone for these problems. Being just another ordinary day-to-day citizen of Malaysia, I am at fault, too. But, maybe just maybe, if we truly unite and abide by the lyrics, we can have a Happy Malaysia.

NB. This is the first of three series of my tribute to the National Day Celebration. There is nothing original in these posts – I just want to share some friendly reminders from the past. After all, we are supposed to remember & appreciate our country’s history.

I’m Going to Fly a Kite!

August 25, 2006

I hope that it will be fine & windy this weekend because I’m going to buy a kite, go to the nearest open field, let out the string and let all my cares and worries go up, up, up and away.

Charles Schulz, the creator of the Peanuts comic series, once noted that the reason he drew images of childhood is because most people can relate to moments when they were carefree and the biggest problem in life was keeping the kite out of the neighbour’s tree.

So, forget your adult responsibilities for a few minutes this weekend, go fly a kite and recapture the essence of unfettered happiness.

Remember, you have to look up! 😉

 Have a Great Weekend!

NB. Eeleen flew a kite last weekend.

Moz did a post on Australian flowers for me and Angel . I was very touched by his gesture. I told him that it’s not everyday that I get flowers from a thoughtful friend. 🙂

Like many other ladies, I love to receive flowers, especially when there is no particular reason & that makes it even more special. 😀

fluers.jpg

Flowers are the sweetest things God ever made. Nothing brightens a room or one’s mood quite like a bouquet of fresh flowers! Flowers provide a splash of vibrant colour to brighten the day and remind you of the beauty God placed in the world.

Flowers speak of fragility and delicacy of life and coax you to abandon your striving after the vain and temporal. They echo the splendours of Eden.

As the English statesman William Wilberforce once said, “Lovely flowers are the smiles of God’s goodness.”
