Finding Strength

September 16, 2007

jk_strength.jpg

“Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow; it empties today of its strength.”

– Corrie Ten Boom –

Like corrosion on a battery, worry drains our energy, saps us of our motivation and drive. Pay attention to the attitudes and activities that give you energy. Cultivate those things and nourish your strength. A strong spirit is the best defence against worry.

Personal: I pray for help to renew & restore my spirit so that I may face each day with the strength required.

Note:  Thank you for your calls, smses, IMs  & emails. I’m truly grateful & touched by your support, care, understanding, friendship, love & prayers.

Rhyming couplets

September 12, 2007

A local newspaper (in England) ran a competition asking for a rhyme with the most romantic first line… but the least romantic second line.

Here are some of the entries they received.

*********

My feelings for you no words can tell,

Except for maybe “go to hell”.

*********

Roses are red, violets are blue, sugar is sweet, and so are you.

But the roses are wilting, the violets are dead, the sugar bowl’s empty and so is your head.

*********

Oh loving beauty you float with grace,

If only you could hide your face.

*********

Kind, intelligent, loving and hot;

This describes everything you are not.

*********

I want to feel your sweet embrace,

But don’t take that paper bag off of your face.

*********

I love your smile, your face, and your eyes –

Damn, I’m good at telling lies!

*********

I see your face when I am dreaming.

That’s why I always wake up screaming.

*********

My love, you take my breath away.

What have you stepped in to smell this way?

Don’t Give Up

September 10, 2007

jk_dungiveup.jpg

Let the positive forces in your life take over.

You have to risk rejection to get what you want.

You have to risk failure to find success.

Learn to cherish, not lament.

Find the ally, not the enemy.

Remember your long-term goals during your short-term problems.

Instead of imagining negative things that fill you with terror, invent positive things that fill you with purpose.

Don’t give up, give more.

I yield to the good.

I come from strength.

I give my best.
