2012

January 1, 2012

May God bless and keep you always,
May your wishes all come true,
May you always do for others
And let others do for you.
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.

May you grow up to be righteous,
May you grow up to be true,
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you.
May you always be courageous,
Stand upright and be strong,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.

May your hands always be busy,
May your feet always be swift,
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift.
May your heart always be joyful,
May your song always be sung,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.

Personally, I’ve grown up is an understatement.

I’ve grown older is the truth.

It’s only Christmas…

December 18, 2009

Do you remember what you wish for every Christmas?

Do you say a prayer and send it on a star?

Well, maybe I’m just being over-sentimental.

But, it’s Christmas…

Prayer of the Children

December 16, 2008

This song was originally written to draw attention to the plight of children in war-torn Eastern Europe. It is equally applicable and in fact more poignant when applied also to children who are experiencing abuse, homelessness or serious illnesses such as cancer.

Though we may not be able to cause the wars abroad to cease, we can cause the wars within our hearts and homes to end.

Forgive and love others. Truly these small and simple steps can eventually cause great and powerful strides in the world.

This Christmas… can you hear the prayer of the children?

“The Prayer of the Children”

by Kurt Bestor

Can you hear the prayer of the children
On bended knee, in the shadow of an unknown room?
Empty eyes with no more tears to cry
Turning heavenward toward the light.

Crying Jesus, help me
To see the morning light of one more day,
But if I should die before I wake,
I pray my soul to take.

Can you feel the hearts of the children
Aching for home, for something of their very own?
Reaching hands, with nothing to hold on to,
But hope for a better day, a better day.

Crying Jesus, help me
To feel the love again in my own land,
But if unknown roads lead away from home,
Give me loving arms, away from harm.

Can you hear the voice of the children
Softly pleading for silence in a shattered world?
Angry guns preach a gospel full of hate,
Blood of the innocent on their hands.

Crying Jesus, help me
To feel the sun again upon my face.
For when darkness clears I know you’re near,
Bringing peace again
